Attorneys in adoption generally charge in one of two ways: by the hour or on a flat fee basis, as I do. There is actually no way to tell which method will be less expensive for you in a given case. Generally speaking, attorneys’ fees in adoptions are greater when billed by the hour.

Where flat fees are charged, clients whose adoptions are extra time-consuming or complicated definitely save money. I even charge a flat fee for communications: telephone calls, faxes, e-mails and postal charges. No matter how many mothers I screen for you, how many long distance calls I make or receive, or how many hours I spend on the phone or at the computer for you, the fee never changes.
